Recently Criteria Recording Studios in Miami Florida hosted Midwest rockers SOUL ASYLUM. Engineer David Nicholas (INXS) joined veteran producer Chris Kimsey (Rolling Stones,The Cure etc.) for the tracking in Criteria’s giant NEVE 8078 Augspurger room. The project for Columbia Records is cutting to Studer analogue and ProTools. They were assisted by Mark Dobson. Swedish Metal monster Yngwie Malmsteen completed overdubs and mixing for his upcoming release on Pony Canyon. The classical opus features the Prague Symphony. Producer Chris Tsangarides (Black Sabbath.Tragically Hip) manned one side of the SSL4096G+ while engineer Keith Rose handled the other. At the other end of the spectrum, DreamWorks SKG. spent some time at Criteria working on an upcoming animated feature. The sessions featured Jeff Goldblum and Eddie Murphy for the production entitled "Shrek". DreamWorks principal Jeffrey Katzenburg oversaw production. They were assisted by Chris Carroll. Pianist Enrique Chia recently completed string and piano over dubs for his most recent projects. Chia produced with assistance from Tim Devine. Carlos Alvarez and Alfredo Mateus split the engineering duties. They were assisted by Scott Kieklak and Chris Carroll. Work continued on the next LP for R&B vocalist Aaron Hall. Producer Reese Johnson joined engineer Scott Kieklak for the MCA project. They were assisted by Kieran "umm" Wagner. Brazilian vocalist Roberto Carlos continued work on his forthcoming Spanish LP Producers Bebu Silvetti and Mauro Mata spotted the light at the end of the tunnel. Engineers Joel Numa and Edu Oliveri camped out for the various overdubs on the Sony Music International project. They were assisted by Steve Robillard. With hot pursuit by several labels both Amanda Green and Zen Dog returned to Criteria to crank out some more A&R fodder. Engineers Keith Rose and Mike Couzzi, respectively, oversaw the frenzy for more material. At a more leisurely pace, production on The Eric Knight Band project has continued with Rose when his schedule permits.
