Recently Criteria Recording Studios played host to several international artists. Topping the list was Brazilian vocalist Roberto Carlos. Producer Mauro Mata oversaw the completion of vocals and final mixes on the 48TK digital project. Utilizing two SSL rooms simultaneously, engineers Ted Stein and Edu deOliveria were pressed into service. They were assisted by Steve Robillard and Chris Carroll. Julio Iglesias, the second hardest working man in showbiz, continued his efforts to please the masses by completing versions of his current LP in French, Portuguese, Italian and English. Longtime engineer Carlos Alvarez manned the SSL4096G+ with such noted producers as Fernando Adour (Portuguese) and Peter Asher (English). They were assisted by Steve Robillard and Keith Rose. Rounding out the International flavor was Latin heart-throb Chayanne. He joined producer/arranger Eddito Martinez and engineer Mike Couzzi in Criteria’s NEVE 8078 tracking room. They were assisted by Mark Gruber. Local success story Mary Karlzen began cutting demos for her next Atlantic Records offering. Mary produced with direction from Rich Ulloa. Criteria staffer Keith Rose engineered with assistance from SCOOBY Spar and Paul Gordon. Getting an early jump on the holidays, Producers Milton Deluge and Chuck Bird stopped by Criteria to record audio for the Orange Bowl Halftime Festivities. Dennis Hetzendorfer engineered with assistance from Mark Dobson. Bahamian gospel ensemble Decision recently spent some time at Criteria. Principal Ron Dames produced the dates with engineer Mike Couzzi. They were assisted by SCOOBY Spar. Local rockers ENDO camped out in Studio E for several days. John JT Thomas produced and engineered with occasional help from Paul Gordon. Similarly, Tommy Anthony spent several days mixing some material with Producer/Engineer Mike Couzzi.
